Salt, Fat, Acid, Heat: Mastering the Elements of Good Cooking

It is no secret that I love to cook. For me it all started when Doug bought me three French cookbooks and lovingly added Post-It Notes to various recipes he promised to figure out together. While we didn’t get far, it did start me loving to read cookbooks. I basically taught myself to become an accomplished gourmet cook with lots of trial and error… yes, a huge cookbook library that I finally said goodbye to when we downsized.

I first saw this book while browsing a local cooking store. As I flipped through the pages I knew I needed to make this my go-to gift for bridal showers or graduation gifts, or for anyone setting up their first apartments. It is beautifully written and my guess is that you’ll have it by your nightstand for late-night reading.

I wish this book is the new Joy of Cooking for a new generation of wanna-be cooks.
